Anti PETA by piratekit Anti PETA by piratekit
I do not like PETA, nor do I support them. I have always been an animal lover, and I have always been against animal cruelty. So, I will admit that back when I was eleven and first heard of the organization I was glad to find a group that fought against animal cruelty. I ordered some stuff from them, and even began spreading word about their organization to my school mates. However, even back when I was that age I liked to do research into what I support. When I started doing this for PETA, well, I was horrified by what I found. I re-researched many things I found to make sure what was true and what was false, I did this for months. However, I stopped supporting the organization when I first found a horrifying piece on what happens behind the scenes.

After months of research, I dropped even mentioning PETA to friends and other animal lovers. I threw out what I had of theirs, and started telling others of what I had learned. I'm ashamed I even supported them at one point. While PETA looks promising to animal lovers on the outside, on the inside it's a contradiction to everything you may support. A lot of people will say 'Oh but PETA has done so much for animals, they fight so hard for them."

But they don't. Yes, they do bring attention to things such as seal clubbing, fur coats, and other things such as that. But all they do is bring attention to those situations by violence or in violent ways. They show terrible images, and while I agree that will get the people who "won't believe it unless they see it"s attention and draw their attention to these situations. However how they handle and produce these messages is bad. They use childish antics(such as a child throwing a fit when they do not get their way) and forceful messages to get their point across. It grabs the peoples attention, but how long will it stay? When a child is throwing a fit, you give them your attention right away, however when the fit continues it gets annoying and you just want to walk away and forget about it all together.

I do believe educating people on these situations is good, but you can do it in a more professional manner where people will actually listen to your reasons and try to understand them. Words given in a manner where the person speaking is calm, and professional about it and showing their facts in words and showing their reasoning behind this, will stay with a person more than words or images thrown at them or forced upon them.

PETA also tries to force vegetarianism and vegan-ism on people. If one wants to be a vegetarian or vegan, that is fine, however forcing one's thoughts on people is wrong. You can give them your facts about why you think they should become either, but not forcing them. Especially little children. PETA would often wait outside preschools or elementary schools for children to get out, then they would hand out pictures to the children with the cover being either a mother figure brutally killing an animal, or a father doing the same. Then the title would be 'your mommy kills animals'. Scaring children just to get them to become vegetarians or vegans is wrong, because they will be misinformed and can end up getting very sick.

Not to mention, I also found out that for some of the videos they have that show the abuse animals suffer in certain situations. They actually recreate themselves. Meaning they kill and hurt animals just to prove their point. They also rescue animals from other shelters promising not to kill them, however they only give them three to four days to be adopted before they put them to sleep. That time limit is less than normal shelters(which is two weeks or longer)

About euthanization, PETA will euthanize pretty much anything. They think that euthanization is the first and only option for any animal. When a baby bear lost it's mother, it was going to go be raised in a zoo, PETA got upset about this and wanted the baby bear to be euthanized instead.
They also believe that people should not have any animal as pets, that anyone who has an animal is an animal abuser(or a slave driver). Even if that owner would rather go without food themselves just to make sure their companion has food and is well taken care of. Instead of working with an animal that has behavior problems, they think the animal needs to be put down. Pit bulls too, they believe that any pit bull should be put to sleep because they are aggressive dogs, the leader of PETA actually stated that Pit bulls are man made dogs only made for fighting. That even puppies, or older dogs who have never had an aggressive incident should be put to sleep, because that breed is born vicious. It's rather ridiculous. In my honest opinion, I think an animal should only be euthanized as a last option, not a first. If the animal is hurt beyond recovery, or if it has a problem where it can not be helped and will only be in pain. Then I agree that euthanization would be an option.

Also PETA is there for the animals? Where were they for the abandoned and hurt dogs in Haiti or in any other place that has suffered? There were a lot more animal societies, out there helping the people get their companions medical care and food. But I have yet to come across a report about PETA being there or anywhere else for that matter.

These are the reason I do not like PETA, nor will I ever support them. If you like them, and support what they do. Then by all means, keep supporting them. However, I ask anyone before joining or supporting any organization, whether it be animal rights or not. Do research on the group before you support them, the good and the bad, find it all out before you make your decision.

Edit: Here is a video covering the second chance given to the dogs from the Micheal Vick case, the dogs that PETA said were vicious and had no way of recovering, that deserved to be put to sleep.

I agreee so goddamn much on this pic!

PETAss (yes, PETAss!) should change their name from ''People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals'' to ''People for the Ethical Treatment for Assholes'', because that is what the members are: ASSHOLES. Pure assholes, and I ain't ashamed of saying they are jerks.

I remember many ridiculous stories from PETA, and it's my brother that taught me about WHO is the shadow of the organisation. I, before, had a liking for PETA, just like you, but I didn't really support them. When I heard about PETA stories told by my brother, I just... Mother of GOD. I felt ashamed for liking that slaughterhouse of lies.

They call fish SEA KITTENS.
SEA. KITTENS.
I found it so ridiculous I laughed. I got into their shitty website, saw the ''Make your own Sea Kitten!'' game, made my sea kitten (who looked more like a Koi carp, but oh well X'D) and named it ''PETAsshole''. It was one of the best things I have EVER done in their website full of lies and :iconbullshitplz:!!!!

Speaking of their website, they bash very popular games like Pokemon (I hate Pokemon myself, but I feel bad for the creators when PETAss pooped their parody), Mario, Cooking Mama, Super Meat Boy, Fast-food Nation and many, many more. I played most of these games and PETA is just plain stupid and ridiculous to come up with such ideas. Who the hell thought Mario skinned Tanooki for special powers?!? He got a fucking LEAF to get his raccoon pelt to be able to fly.

I love playing Cooking Mama: Mama Kills Animals, just to review this piece of crap of a parody. The blood is largely overused in the game! Plucking an already dead turkey's feathers=shitloads of blood. Removing the dead organs=shitloads of blood. Putting the eggs in the frying pan=shitloads of blood. EVEN for cracking a fucking egg, you see a lot of blood! Same thing goes for the Pokemon parodies. It's ridiculous. ''Thanks to you, Mama has a change of heart.'' I helped her cook the damn turkey! How did I made her change her mind so suddenly? She went from the oh-so-evul-meat-ehturr to the tofu-powered vegan in a half second! It's literally unrealistic, ridiculous and stupid to make this ''parody'' have an conclusion to this!

In the strip-tease Animal Birth Control quiz, they ADMIT that they kill a crapload of animals. They ADMIT IT. I have the answer here, for over 6 to 8 million pets getting in their shelters:
''Every year, over half of the dogs and cats in the shelters must be sent into kitty and puppy heaven. The good news is that it doesn't have to be this way. If we can get to a ''no-birth'' nation- trough aggressive spaying and neutering and by actively boycotting the pet stores and breeders that cause this problem- We can prevent this problem before it starts. Plus, I have plenty of more to show you...'' Well, what a nice way to admit you just love to kill animals. Hahahahaha. No.

They got sooo butthurt over Obama swatting a FLY. Could their intelligence just get any lower?
I am sure that, in the near future, PETAss will have as much I.Q. As a toaster. I am dead serious, they are already lowering their I.Q.s so well they should get an award for ''Best Dumbass'' in their association and attach it to their H.Q.'s front door.

I must say, I love animals and I do not support animal cruelty (Who does approve that shit anyway?). But PETA just takes EVERYTHING over the edge and overdramatizes everything to the point it's ridiculous. Their ''facts'' are also full of shit. *cough cough* like drinking milk gives you cancer *cough cough*

I will fave this over 900 times if given the chance, I am dead serious! Here, have an awesome badge.

I think I remember something on the PETAss website, there was a quiz on there and it was who would you save, the kid or the dog, if you choose the dog you're wrong.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL (but that fly story is more funny and pathetic though)

I am also one who loves animals and doesn't approve of cruelty but yeah, PETA is like (I'm not going to say it since if it might offend people, if you want to know i'll note you)

I already listed why I hate PETA in the description, they may have started off with good intent but that's no longer the case. I hate them because they could care less about animals, they don't even want people to own pets. I hate PETA because of how they handle things, how they do things and what they do(their actions, etc).

Just because I hate animal cruelty doesn't mean I need to support PETA.

Long Post...

Yeah, I don't like Peta either.  Would it be odd if I see them as a terrorist group?
They may not be doing things directly themselves, but they do approve and support the groups that do like providing the terrorist groups funds to blow up and set things on fire just to get their 'message across'.

They lie and deceive animal lovers as well as the less informed of their money to fund themselves.  They maybe outrageous and taking things to the extreme to focus on 'liberating animals', but I don't think they're not that stupid either.  If they outright said they are a terrorist group or tell the people what they're exactly going to do the money they give them (such as spending the funds on offensive campaign ads, a freezer to store animal bodies, etc and almost nothing on taking care of the animals), would it go so well for them?  They don't want to draw fire to themselves.  You really can't believe what they say and can probably be masking things for a true agenda.  They're literally right in the US in front of our noses.  I really don't see much of anywhere else that they're effecting other than inside the US.

They target anybody or any group to get media attention, pop/music icons, video games, etc.  They bashed on Steve Erwin, which also got a lot of people upset.  They target kids which I find particularly disturbing.  They threatened parents to take their kids away to child services because they deemed feeding their kids meat is a form of 'child abuse'.  They wait outside their schools to show them offensive messages and images to get them to stop drinking milk while spreading lies about it (such as giving you diseases like cancer).    I'd call it harassment too, so how are they not in trouble for this?  They spread a lot of lies and exaggerate information, but tell them as facts.

If they aren't a terrorist group, then they are a bunch of hypocrites that doesn't care about anyone else than themselves and go through such extreme and annoying lengths to make people upset.  They don't allow anything that uses animals; no pets, no zoos, no circuses, no medical research (even if a cure for a disease were found, Peta would still be against it), nothing.  Peta's Vice President herself takes insulin to be kept alive.  Insulin resulted from animal testing, but her excuse for using it was that it was developed at a time before she could do anything.

To me, it literally feels like they just hate everyone on the planet.  They also don't seem to take criticism too well either, yet they criticize and antagonize people themselves.  They've threatened a few of the anonymous commenters with a lawsuit in one of the Huffington Posts for speaking badly yet the truth about Peta.

Anyway, I like animals myself and go against animal cruelty.  In a way, it really depends on the morals of people and the perspective on it.  If taken to the extreme, I would also be seen as a hypocrite as I eats both meat and vegetables.  I have nothing against omnivores either as long as they don't push their own ideals onto me.  I mean, humans aren't the only species on the planet that eats meat or go killing animals for food.
On a side note, I think if everything on the planet ate nothing but meat or plant matter, nothing would go well for any species.  I don't think there'd be enough meat or plant matter to feed the entire planet.  Imbalanced diets and lack of nutrition will cause problems for anyone later on.

If you think about it, animals are needed for survival.  Without them, advancements of human civilization wouldn't be possible.  This is also said by historians.  I'd like to think some of the domestication of animals happened naturally.  As both human and animal can learn to co-exist, cooperate, and ultimately help each other out.  I think the 'wolves and humans' could be one example of it.  Also, I know...  Humans don't get along with EVERY animal on the planet, but that can be said for the animals too.  We can learn a lot from animals and possibly help them as well as ourselves.

PETA is an organization that is suppose to be for the ethical treatment of animals. Animals are the last thing they care about now. They do actions in the name of animals, but it's not for animals. They euthanize more animals they save-they basically want all animals to be "free", even those who wouldn't survive in the wild. Their mind set is, if they can't be free they need to be euthanized. They do nothing really FOR animals now, it's all about money and attention.

God, I hate PETA. I never trusted them. They talk about how no kill shelter animals are "suffering" but then they turn around and make even more animals suffer. They kill animals without even giving them a chance to live... and then they say pet ownership is "slavery". I recently got a 100 dollar bill. I'm shoving it in the donation box at the SPCA.

This is so true. Last year, they killed 95% of their animals so they should be reclassified as a slaughterhouse.[link] (The last time I went to the front page it said they killed over about 300, 000 animals and only found eight of them homes!) "If the animal is hurt beyond recovery, or if it has a problem where it can not be helped and will only be in pain." That`s actually genuine euthanasia, NOT killing an animal and labeling its death 'euthanasia'.

"for the ethical treatment".....well however, this can be reviewed from many people in many different ways!
For me, an ethical treatment resembles respect to the animal, but see some animals as a prey and when I wanna eat one, then I have to kill one, but Im not one who loves it to kill, I only do it when I have to! And also when I must do, I do it fast because none loves a bad treated victim.
Not even predators do!
Im also against Peta, because their ideals do have nothing to do with anything the nature (of animals and humans both) created!

Being an Animal Sciences major myself, I actually know what goes on in food animal farms and slaughter houses. I can tell you personally, the practices of my University's slaughterhouse were not the most technologically up-to-date (though pretty close) but were still a far cry from what PETA shows people. The government actually fines and shuts down the kinds of places on PETA's films, but they treat it like all slaughter houses do that sort of thing.

Actually, all pro-vegetarianism videos do that, really, and it pisses me off to no end. Fear-mongering tactics, they are. Underhanded, foul, and wrong.

New threats to our freedom to keep corn snakes, and all other herps, loom in the form of two emergent enemies- HSUS and PETA.
These closely-aligned animal rights organizations have now set their sights on the reptile hobby and trade, their ultimate goals being to stop it completely and ban the keeping of all herps as pets. In their published rhetoric, reptiles are totally unsuitable as pets. They believe that nearly all reptiles suffer and lead shortened lives when kept in cages. They go so far as to include captive-bred corn snakes in that appraisal, but not through sheer ignorance.
Their clever strategy is to focus on the public's attention on isolated problems they can capture on film to evoke sympathy, and then imply that those disturbing images represent normal practices in reptile keeping. Recognizing the huge progress in herpetoculture over the past couple of decades-- that the majority of pet herps are being captive-bred, not taken from the wild-- would not strengthen their case to get money. They choose to ignore captive reptile breeding so the public can be duped into believing that stopping all reptile keeping would help all the wild animals in nature. Both of these groups spend huge amounts of well-meaning citizen's donations to completey end the reptile hobby and trade. None of the money given to them goes to help the poor animals in local Humane Society shelters; they are completely different organizations.
